Mets

The New York Mets came to town to play the Houston Astros and like every year that we have been here we made it to a game. Actually this year we made it to more than one! They were in town Monday - Thursday so we got tickets to Tuesday's game because we wanted to see Johan Santana pitch. Then as luck would have it, Mark won tickets at work for Wednesday's game. However, the luck didn't end there, at least for Mark, a client of his from work called and took him to the game on Thursday! So Mark was able to go to 3 of the 4 and I got 2 out of 2!!

We decided to take Gracie with us to the game on Tuesday. Since we watch the Mets pretty much every night we figured she would do pretty good at the game. Which she did for the most part. As it got later she got a little more bored with it but I think that was due to 1. the time, 2. we were really close to the field & 3. she could not run around much. We did bring some books and such for her to look at and color so that helped. Her favorite part of the game was the train. The Astros have a train engine that moves anytime they hit a homerun or win a game, unfortunately the train moved 3 times. They hit 2 homeruns and ended up winning the game on Tuesday. It was still a very good game and a close one too!
Daddy & Gracie watching the Mets warm up.
We got there early enough that we could watch the Mets finish warming up before the game. We couldn't believe how great or close our seats were!

Watching the game with Momma. This was probably are biggest struggle as the night went on. As she gets tired she likes to be with Momma however, baby makes it slightly difficult for her to sit on my lap these days and relax the way she wanting to do.

After the game we received a text from one of Mark's co-workers, it seems that we made it onto TV that night during the game. I'm sure it was all because of Gracie and had nothing to do with Mark or I. Seriously, why else would they put 3 people on the TV that were clearly Met fans. (Mark has a Mets hat on.) Either way, we were famous for a few seconds! hehe :)

Sea Center Texas

Gracie and I went with our Moms Club to Sea Center Texas this past week, which is an aquarium. Below are a few pictures of our adventures.
Not even 15 minutes into our road trip and she was already asleep, we had about an hour drive.
The touch tank. You are allowed to touch any of the shells, crabs and such in this tank but with only 1 finger. Yeah that didn't work so well with Grace's plans, she wanted to grab and pick up, so we just didn't touch anything. Can't say I blame her, it is just too tempting to a 1 year old.
One of the crabs you could touch...they had their claws removed.
Doing an art project.

I think she looks soo big in this picture. It makes me sad cause I still like to think of her as my baby. I guess she is growing up right before our eyes even though we tell her not to.
Every Friday morning you get to watch them feed the fish in one of the tanks. The kids all loved it.

The group that we went with minus 3 others.

Fire Safety

Our Moms Club went to the Alvin Fire station for a little program regarding fire safety. They showed the kids a little video, worked with them on the Stop, Drop & Roll procedure, showed them what a fireman looks like in person all dressed up, let them go in the fire truck, spray the water and take a picture with Sparky the Dog.

Grace actually did not enjoy all this. She got a little scared of the fireman and in the fire truck. I let her climb up into it by herself thinking she would do just fine. I was wrong. She got scared when she could no longer see me. I guess looking back I should have gotten up there with her but being so huge and pregnant the last thing I really felt like doing on a hot day was climb up into a fire truck. I'm klutz as it is and then you add being pregnant I'm actually surprised I have not tripped or hurt myself yet during this pregnancy. I just had visions of myself falling as I was either getting up or down.

Gracie did participate in the Stop, Drop & Roll procedure after the firemen got up and were not sitting right next to the mat.

Grant showing Gracie what she was suppose to be doing. :)

She got the hang of it and just kept doing it over and over.

We stayed far away from the fireman in his uniform. I tried telling her it was just like Mr. Steve, our neighbor, but she just kept looking at me like "Momma, that is Not Mr. Steve."

It was after I took this picture that she started crying and wanted out of the truck. :(

She did love spraying the water or more so playing in the water.

It was a really fun day. I'm not really sure how much she got from it but we will go back again next year and the year after and I'm sure the information will start to stick and she will know exactly what to do if there was ever a fire.

Grandma's Helper

While Grandma was here we made some potetskake. I'm sure most of you are wondering what on earth that is and is that even a word, it is a word just not an English one. Potetskake is a Norwegian potato pancake basically. I'm not sure how else to describe it but it is good. They are best right off the griddle but still good once you warm them up again. Once warmed you eat them with a little bit of butter and sugar...yummy! Last year when we made them Gracie liked them but her taste have changed so I was not sure how she would react to them. Why I even worry I don't know cause she loved them!

Grandma

Mark's mom came to visit us the end of July. It was so great to see her again. We Skype with the family ever week but it is just not the same as being with them in person. The last time we were were together was back in November so a very long time ago. Gracie had a blast with Grandma!

A favorite activity was playing with Noah's Ark.

While Grandma was here we took her to one of our favorite places to go....the zoo!! It was unbelievably hot but we had fun anyways. We were there for only a couple hours but still got to see all of Gracie's favorite animals.

We got to see Baylor, the baby elephant again during this trip.

Besides the zoo we basically just hung out at the house and did some baking and made some plum jam. Gracie had such a great time with Grandma and was very sad to see her go. Now when we Skype she tries to get Grandma to chase her around the house and to play with her. If only she could. I know both would love to be able to do so again. Below are just a couple more pictures of their time together.
