The Trip of Injuries....

So our trip to Nebraska was just what the title says, a trip of injuries.  We did have a wonderful time in between all of the injuries that happened and even though I joked we would never be going back to Nebraska we do look forward to our next trip there....when ever that will be.  The first injury came the day we arrived and only about 30 minutes after getting to my sister's.  We were outside so the girls could burn off some energy from sitting in a car for so long and the Husby girls did what they always do...they started climbing!  They were walking along the top of a rock wall, which maybe comes to my waist...maybe...and Eva decided to sit down.  Well she is not so graceful and when she sat down she was too close to the edge and fell off.  She was fine just a little scared and defiantly not something she hasn't done before.

The next injury came that night.  My sister was having a 4th of July party and everyone was lighting fire crackers, sparklers, throwing snaps and etc.  The girls wanted to do a sparkler and we let them since we were right there with them.  They did great!!  (Pictures to come at a later time)  The problem came when Eva wanted to do another one and before we could get to her she grabbed an old one that had just gone out.  Two little burns, one on her finger and one on her thumb.  Somebody was pretty quick with the ice and water and she escaped pretty much unharmed other than a couple little marks.

The third injury came on Sunday night.  Mark was walking down the steps to come sit on the patio with the rest of us and he fell.  I should state that my sister just put in a patio door and they put the only thing there that they had which was left over paver stones from the wall.  So the steps were not the normal width of steps.  Mark was coming out with a glass of water and maybe food in his hand.  He turned to shut the door and when he turned back he put weight on the front of his foot.  Problem being it was in mid-air due to the narrow steps and so he fell.  He jammed his toe pretty bad and scrapped up his elbow and knee.

The next injury didn't come until the 4th at my parents house.  We were all outside lighting off the fire crackers, smoke balls, sparklers and such again.  Mark was lighting a sparkler for Grace and she turned it just right when it lit that it burned Mark's thumb.  Again, and thankfully, nothing serious just a slight mark.  Although I'm sure it hurt pretty bad as most burns do.

Our fifth, yes 5th, injury came on Thursday July 5th and out of all of them this was the worse one!  That evening we went to my cousins farm to go see the horses.  Everything was going great until it was time to go. We were outside and Eva had taken off her shoes yet again, she hates shoes.  Mark told her we needed to go and we needed to put her shoes on.  Well she didn't like the sound of that so she did what she always does and started to throw a fit.  For those of you who don't know, when she throws a fit she literately throws herself back to the ground and cries.  Well she was sitting in the dirt and did just that but there was a rock in the dirt.  She hit it just right and we were off to urgent care!
Waiting for the doctor to come in so we were passing the time eating fishies and playing with Mommy's phone.  She actually stopped crying before we ever left my cousins house!

She ended up having to get 2 staples!!  She was such a trooper through it all and the next day she bounced right back.  The only time she complained was when I would wash her hair and she wanted to lay on a pillow to get her diaper changed!  She is such a strong, tough girl!  She had to keep them in for about 10 days!
This is what it looks like now that the staples are out!

Of course this was the worse but not the last injury.  The very next morning I took Mark back down to urgent care.  As I said earlier he hurt his toe at my sister's house, well as the week went on instead of it getting better it got worse and by Friday morning he could barely walk!  They took x-rays and thankfully, I think, it was not broken.  However, they found a bone spur and it seems his fall has aggravated it.  Which is no big deal as long as it stops hurting.  If it continues he will have to get it removed!  Thankfully it has gotten better and doesn't seem to bother him too much.

Our last injury of the trip came on Saturday, the day before we left, and this time it was Grace.  We were at my family reunion (the reason for the trip) and Grace was playing on the playground outside with all of her cousins.  She fell off but thankfully just came away with a few scrapes and bruises!

So in a nut shell that was our trip to Nebraska!!  Like a said a trip of injuries, 6 total if you were counting and we were there for 8 days!!  You can now see why I said we were never going back there again!  We will of course at some point but the next trip everyone is going to be wearing bubble wrap!! heh :)

Still waiting for my pictures from the trip and once I get them I will post on all the fun things we did on the trip!

Fun on the Farm!

So I was finally able to get a hold of Mark's phone long enough to get those pictures and videos off of it!  While back in Nebraska we went back to my cousin's farm to see the horses again.  Once Grace found out we were going to Nebraska she asked if we were going to see the "cowboy" and his horse, who is my Uncle Dave and his horse Nevada.  I told her we would have to wait and see how it goes but figured we could make it there at some point and we did.  I had called my cousin to make sure it was ok if we came down to just simply see and pet the horses however, they gave the girls a great surprise!  They were able to ride a horse again but this time they rode Ginger!  Who is a slightly smaller horse and they put a smaller saddle on her so the girls could sit in it by themselves and then they led them around the yard!
Due to an injury to Mark's toe, more to come later, and me being in flip-flops we enlisted my dad to walk along side the girls! :)

Eva even took her turn on the horse.  I didn't think she would get up there since the last time I tried here in Texas she started to cry and would not let go of me.  Only goes to prove my theory that I think the animal and owner of said animal plays a huge part in how well kids will react to an animal.

As if a horse was not enough, my cousin had her son, Avery, go and get a calf from the field for the girls to see and pet!  This particular calf was a little skittish around humans so for this task we enlisted my Uncle Dave to help the girls pet him!  After hearing about how the calf has a quick back kick I didn't feel like trying my luck with it!

The girls had so much fun and of course didn't want to leave.  Everyone they see since we have been home gets to hear the story of how they were able to ride Ginger and pet a baby cow!  It is always the first thing they tell anyone who ask about the trip and then they go on to talk about everything else they did.

Thank you Kristy, Cory, Avery, Beau, and Uncle Dave!!

We're Back!

We just got back from our vacation on Monday and I have so many things to blog about or update everyone on.  We spent a week in Nebraska visiting my family and just relaxing, sort of.  We attended 4th of July gatherings, went to a family reunion, rode horses (again), went on a zoo trip and even made a trip or two to the urgent care!!

However, all of this is going to just have to wait at least for a little while.  It was not until we got to Nebraska that I realized I forgot to pack something.  Which just seemed impossible because I checked everything at least three times, if not more, to make sure that this trip we would not leave anything behind.  My list, a mental one, seemed to have an item missing from it.  I should have known being pregnant that I needed to write out my list but this item is so simple and I take it along on most of our fun trips but nope not this one.  Only an hour or two after arriving I realized that I had left my camera!!!  How could I leave my camera?  Like I said it goes pretty much everywhere with us since having the girls!  I even had on my shopping trip to pick up new batteries for the camera but no need for that since the camera was miles and miles away. :(

Thankfully I have a wonderful sister and mom!  They are both making copies of their pictures for me so I will have some pictures but I just have to wait for them.  Mark also took some pictures and videos on his phone so I just need to hijack that from him one of these evenings to get those onto our computer and then I can start blogging on some of the things we did and then I'll just have to wait for my pictures to arrive in order to post on the others!

In the meantime, check out the newest post below!

On Stage...

The girls have become quite the performers these days.  It seems like they are always going around singing.  They sing when we are in the car, while playing, while we are eating....pretty much all the time.  What they sing varies sometimes it is actual songs and sometimes they make up their own songs and sometimes they make a stage and perform for me!  The videos below they are "on stage" and singing actual songs!  However, let me first apologize for my horrible singing voice!  I did not receive that gene in our family! :)

Movie Time

Our church decided to host a drive-in movie one time each month during the summer.  In June they were going to be showing the movie Up and that is a favorite of ours.  Mark and I decided we would give it a shot with the girls.  They had so much fun!!
Getting ready for the movie the girls had a little pre-movie snack.....Skittles and M&Ms.....a huge treat for them since we limit their candy and they usually never get it at night.

They did really well considering how late is was by the time the movie was over.  Grace asked on Sunday when going to church if we were watching a movie again or going to church.  I said church and thought it was going to be an issue but she was happy!  She said she liked the movie but likes that we get to go into church this time!!
