Salmon Days

The first weekend after we moved the town was celebrating Salmon Days!!  Which is a huge festival, parade and all, to celebrate the salmon coming back!  There is a little salmon hatchery here in town and it is one of the main hatcheries, plus only one around open to the public, that help secure the salmon and their eggs!!  I'm not sure when or why it started but this town embraces it and throws a huge festival in honor of it!
Waiting for the parade to start Mark and the girls ran up and down some old working train tracks.
Also while waiting I think Grace asked me about 20 times if there was going to be any horses in the parade!

This one I thought was interesting....the sign says something along the lines of what will happen if you text & drive!!
Sammy the Salmon
The Seattle Seahawks cheerleaders made an appearance!

It was actually a very large parade with entries from all over.  Some came from all over Washington, some from surrounding states and even a couple from Canada!!
Not sure what this entry was for but I thought it was funny a bunch of grown men walking down the route performing YMCA and actually doing the actions to the song.  Come to think of it I think they were the local YMCA entry!! Hehe
And YES there were horses!!!
The first float from Canada....we thought of our friends, the Brooks, with this one and well with everyone that came from Canada! :)
Watching a parade in Washington is a little different than watching a parade in Texas...we were chilly the whole time!!
After the parade we were walking around the festival and the girls were getting hungry.  Grace wanted a hamburger with french fries and Eva wanted chicken with french fries....this plate of fries is what Daddy was able to find for them!!  Felt horrible throwing out so much food but between the four of us we didn't even come close to eating half of it!
And of course our girls had to ride the ponies at the festival!!
It was a really fun day and we look forward to going again next!
