This year for the 4th we decided to go back to Nebraska to see my family. Not only did we decide this we also figured hey why not drive and save a little money. Yeah, if we could do it all over again we would have bought tickets. The extra money we would have spent would have been totally worth it. The trip is suppose to take right around 14 hours and going it took us 14 1/2 hours, not so bad. However, we did drive it through the night so Grace was sleeping pretty much most of the trip. She would wake up every time we stopped for gas, which would have been fine except she would cry and scream cause she wanted to be out of her seat. When we would take her out then she would cry and scream once she went back in it and would for about 10mins into the drive.
The trip going was a dream compared to the trip coming back. It took us 17 hours to get home. We left earlier in the morning which helped cause we actually got home before 10 that night. Grace probably slept until 7:30 and then it was about every 2 hours that we had to stop. She would just start crying and screaming so much that we felt mean to make her stay in the seat. Don't get me wrong we drove with her crying for a long time, thinking she would just fall asleep, before we ever stopped to pull over. We also listened to the David Crowder song, that she loves so much, non-stop for 30 to 45 mins straight. I too like the song but even now after a few weeks I could do with out listening to. However not Grace, it is the song we play every night for her to go to bed.
The actual time spent back in Nebraska was good. It was great to see my family again and even better that Mark got to go with us on this trip. I just won't be driving it anytime soon.
